Assembly Guide
Divan Bed
Suitable for every size, with or without drawers, and both headboard styles.
Five steps, easier with two people.
Before you start
- Unpack all components and check them against your order confirmation.
- Work in a clean, clear space – grit or sharp edges can mark or tear the fabric.
- Assembly is easier with two people, particularly when turning the base over.
- Your fittings are usually packed inside the drawers.
Tools you will need
Screwdriver
For the headboard bolts and screws.
Step-by-step assembly
1
Fit the feet
Turn the base upside down so you can reach the underside, then work round the corners:
- Line each foot up with its pre-drilled hole and push it in.
- Tap the feet home gently – do not force them.
If a foot will not seat, check it is square to the hole rather than hitting it harder. Fit the feet to both halves of the base if yours came in two pieces.

Base upside down: tap each foot into its pre-drilled corner hole.
2
Release the drawer straps
Divan bases with drawers only
Retaining straps are stapled inside the base to stop the drawers sliding open in transit. Either unhook them from the fastening point or cut them away. The fittings for the rest of the build are normally packed inside the drawers, so take those out before you go on. If your divan has no drawers, this step can be skipped.
Drawer loading
15kg maximum per drawer. Overloading them will damage the runners.

The retaining straps sit on each drawer.
3
Join the two bases
Small double, double, king & superking only
These sizes are supplied as two separate bases that clip together. Small single and single beds arrive as one complete piece, so this step can be skipped.
- Push the two halves together and choose where the U-clips will sit.
- Peel the dust sheet back carefully, then place each clip over both divan edges.
- Press the clips down until they seat. Standing the bases on their side can make this easier.
With all the clips fitted, ask someone to help you lift both halves together and turn the bed over onto its feet.

U-clips bridge the two bases – note the curved and straight edges.
4
Attach the headboard
Follow whichever option matches the headboard included with your order. For either headboard, remove the fabric covering the fixing hole, then pierce with a screwdriver to find the fixing point.
24-inch strutted headboard
Line up the headboard struts with the fittings at the head end of the base so the headboard sits above the mattress line. Secure the bolts and screws with a screwdriver, checking the headboard is level before fully tightening.
54-inch floor-standing headboard
Position the headboard so its legs rest flat on the floor at the head end, independent of the mattress height. Bolt the legs to the base fittings with a screwdriver, checking the headboard is upright and level before fully tightening.
5
Attach the footboard
If a footboard is included
Only needed if your order includes a footboard. The mounting brackets are already fitted to the base at the foot end, so there is nothing to attach there.
12-inch or 20-inch footboard
Simply line up your footboard with the pre-fitted brackets and lock it into place.
Tip: keep any spare screws and clips in a labelled bag, in case you need to tighten the fittings again in future.
